Give back for Good this Giving Tuesday
We’re kicking off the holiday season already! The year 2020 has been full of challenges. However, Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR) remained focused on providing small businesses, communities and local organizations, the necessary tools to overcome these roadblocks.
Every contribution you’ve made has helped us face many obstacles in the best way possible. Help us accomplish our vision of a prosperous Puerto Rico that unleashes the talent, creativity and passion of its people. On Tuesday, December 1st, we invite you to give hope on Giving Tuesday, where you’ll have the chance to join an international movement and support our cause.
After Puerto Rico was hit by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake, FPR launched the Earthquake Relief Fund. Thanks to your contributions, we reactivated our Small Business Support Program, to assist small businesses in Ponce and Guánica to remain open, retain employees and receive technical assistance. As a result, $80,000 were distributed among 22 businesses whose operations were affected by the earthquakes.
Despite the pandemic, our programs ran smoothly online. Since 2018, the Bottom Up Destination Recovery Initiative has been offering an array of educational workshops for small businesses, aspiring entrepreneurs, and local non-profits. In an effort to continue this much needed assistance in 2020, all workshops were held virtually, open to Q&A and attendee discussion. More than 500 individuals benefited from the knowledge of experts in digital marketing, grant writing, sustainable alternatives, entrepreneurship and more.
For our aspiring entrepreneurs in our multi-level entrepreneurship program, Emprende 360° shifted from in-person sessions to completely virtual gatherings, providing participants a silver lining through the chaos.
By joining Giving Tuesday, you’re actively being a part of the solution, helping us continue to build a stronger Puerto Rico. Mark your calendars, spread the word, and help us continue supporting our beloved Island. Join us for Good today.
