During the fourth session of our Stay Open, Stay Safe interview series, we talked with Jorge Jorge, founder and president of Toro Verde Adventure Park in Orocovis, about the changes and adaptations made by the attraction’s operators to comply with the security and social distancing measures amid the COVID-19.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

After resuming operations on\u00a0May 29, Toro\u00a0Verde operates only under reservations, which now\u00a0have to\u00a0be submitted online, along with a security questionnaire related to COVID-19. In addition to the required safety measures, the park provides visitors with a pair of disposable gloves and all equipment goes through a rigorous sanitation process before and after each\u00a0use and\u00a0maintains social distance in transporting groups from one zipline to another. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\"We have no idea at this time when we will have a vaccine. We\u00a0have to\u00a0keep living with the COVID. We have to keep working with COVID, but taking all the safety measures,\" says Jorge.\u00a0\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Tourism is essential to boost the island’s economy, both locally and internationally, according to Jorge. However, he stresses that “we cannot let down our guard. We\u00a0have to\u00a0urge our clients as well as our employees or collaborators that security comes first.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

With the security measures in place, Jorge\u00a0invites\u00a0tourists to visit Puerto Rico, and advises other attraction operators\u00a0to try to normalize their business in the face of a new reality. “We have to get ahead, we can’t give\u00a0in to fear.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
