virtual Destination Plan meetings were successfully carried out for the regions of Ceiba\/Naguabo and Fajardo\/Luquillo, as part of the <a href=\"#\">Bottom Up Destination Recovery Initiative<\/a> program. A diversity of members of the community participated in the meetings including; business owners, residents, local organizations, municipal representatives, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, university students and professors, artisans, tour operators, cultural managers and Airbnb hosts.<\/p>\n<p>During the meetings, the destination planning team discussed the preliminary results of Phase 1, the process for the co-design of a Destination Plan and the opening call for Nido Cultural, an initiative, alongside our partners in Inversi\u00f3n Cultural, which offers support for the development of tourism projects in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Through different surveys carried out during the meetings, the participants shared their opinion on how they see the development of their tourism destination. Some common elements expressed by the community, and that should be a vital part of the Destination Plan for the region, were the importance of environmental conservation, community tourism, and adventure and nature experiences. In addition, participants agreed on the importance of the integration of the community, the municipalities, and the different state agencies for the development of these plans. In the next destination plan meetings to be held in November, the group will discuss an analysis of the tourism market at a global and regional level.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re an artisan, artist or musician in these regions, apply for Nido Cultural by Sunday, September 27.
