challenge with the threat of COVID-19. However, our experiences from the past give us the tenacity\u00a0and resilience\u00a0to endure any obstacle in the way. One more time our communities, small business owners, and entrepreneurs, particularly those whose livelihoods depend on the visitor economy, are being hit hard. And once again, Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR) will be here to support them.<\/p><h2>Puerto Rico\u00a0leads the charge to stop the spread of COVID-19\u00a0<\/h2><p class=\"\">On Sunday night,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/03\/15\/us\/coronavirus-puerto-rico.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Puerto Rico\u2019s governor Wanda Vazquez issued\u00a0an executive order\u00a0to avoid the spread of COVID-19 in Puerto Rico<\/a>, where 5 cases have been confirmed to date. The order, which went into effect Sunday night and lasts until March 31,\u00a0mandated the closure\u00a0of\u00a0non-essential businesses,\u00a0an island-wide curfew from 9pm \u2013 5am, and\u00a0steep fines for any infringement.\u00a0\u201cPuerto Rico, a territory of the U.S., is leading &amp; ahead of the states, in attempting to stop the spread of COVID19,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidBegnaud\/status\/1239386321858240514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>\u00a0CBS news correspondent David Begnaud.<\/p><p class=\"\">In doing so, the island will be able to\u00a0safeguard our citizens&#8217;\u00a0and visitors&#8217; health in the short term, and our economy in the long term.\u00a0<\/p><h2>FPR successfully moves its operation online without any interruptions to programs or services.\u00a0<\/h2><p class=\"\">Closely tracking\u00a0the progress of global events related to COVID-19\u00a0for weeks, we developed and revised protocols for how to best ensure the safety of our staff and the continuity of our programs.\u00a0Since Monday,\u00a0we&#8217;ve been\u00a0working remotely at full capacity, and have managed to keep all\u00a0our\u00a0programs running\u00a0to make a difference in our communities, which\u00a0need more support\u00a0now\u00a0than ever before.\u00a0We successfully transitioned\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/emprende360pr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emprende\u00a0360\u00b0<\/a>\u00a0from an in-person program to one that\u2019s being managed 100% online.<\/p><h2>Financial\u00a0relief\u00a0options\u00a0for\u00a0small business owners.<\/h2><p class=\"\">During this period of uncertainty, it is imperative to identify immediate financial relief options available for microenterprises and small businesses, who are some of the most affected by COVID-19\u2019s containment efforts.
