suggest. For too long, incomplete measurement has kept this sector at the margins of our economic narrative. In reality, it is one of the Island\u2019s most vital engines of growth. For this reason, Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR) developed an extensive study titled <i>\u201cPuerto Rico\u2019s Visitor Economy Performance Model\u201d which substantiates and supports the<\/i> summary information presented here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">FPR defines the visitor economy (VE) as a holistic economic system encompassing all sectors that generate value from visitor activity and spending, including tourism, hospitality, arts, culture, retail, and more. FPR\u2019s strategy emphasizes the visitor economy as a spearhead for Puerto Rico\u2019s overall economic development, using the Island\u2019s unique assets to create authentic visitor experiences that benefit the entire community. This translates to job creation, infrastructure improvements, and an enhanced quality of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">What sets the visitor economy apart is its ability to generate new revenue from outside Puerto Rico. Unlike many sectors that circulate existing capital, visitation activity injects external revenue directly into the Island, producing a positive balance of payments that strengthens the sustainability of our economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <strong>Visitor Economy Performance Model<\/strong> developed by FPR provides the clearest picture yet of the size and structure of this segment of the economy. By moving beyond traditional narrow surveys and recall-based methods favored in the past, the model integrates behavioral data, local pricing, and overlooked spending categories into a comprehensive
