class=\"column\"><p>The Skatepark in Arecibo is a local government-run park that allowed visitors and practitioners of the skating sport to enter for free. There is a half pipe, ramps for skates, skateboards and bicycles, as well as seats for those who wish to observe. This skatepark welcomed young people and skateboarding and art enthusiasts before Hurricane Maria. It also held local competitions and is currently abandoned without the necessary care.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2142\" aria-expanded=\"false\">INTENDED IMPACT<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2142\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2142\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 13\"><div class=\"layoutArea\"><div class=\"column\"><p>The revitalization of the Arecibo Skatepark is an initiative that seeks to enable this space to eliminate the limitations that prevent the proper recreational use of the residents and visitors of Arecibo.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Urban parks have long played a vital role in community-based programs for young people. Traditionally, they have been thought of mainly as venues for play. Some research-backed socioeconomic benefits to public urban skateparks include: reduction of illicit behavior, provide a safe environment for practicing the skateboarding sport, reduction of damages to private property, significant health benefits, significant mental health benefits, and a positive economic impact.<\/p><p>This project seeks to unite two cultures: art and skateboarding at both local and international levels. These two worlds have been marginalized over the years. Revitalizing this space would mean that competitions that were held before can be resumed, achieving a space that can host local and foreign visitors, which gives an injection to the economy of Arecibo and neighboring towns.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2143\" aria-expanded=\"false\">LEADING PROGRAM MILESTONES<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2143\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2143\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 13\"><div class=\"layoutArea\"><div class=\"column\"><p>To revitalize the skatepark and encourage Puerto Rico&#8217;s youth to practice art and sports.
