Jon Borschow, founder and chairman of Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR), has announced the opening of the Colaboratorio, a collaborative space.

“In this historical moment, collaboration among all sectors, promoted by the third [or nonprofit] sector will be the engine of economic development for our island,” he said.

FPR developed Colaboratorio as part of its “mission to serve as a catalyst for economic and social transformation on the island.” The space is home to FPR and hosts other nonprofit organizations whose purpose is to promote economic and social development by exchanging ideas and resources to strengthen organizations that, along with FPR, show that the third sector can boost projects when having the necessary resources.

“The Colaboratorio is our mission turned into a tangible space, a great place where various initiatives converge to work for Puerto Rico,” Borschow said. “Working for Puerto Rico takes more than having the technology and physical resources, it requires us to be innovative in everything we do and to look beyond our borders, recognizing the opportunities out there for us to be known and bring home that much-needed capital,” he added.

Colaboratorio has more than 8,700 square feet with state-of-the-art technology and shared-space design in Santurce’s Ciudadela Plaza. The facilities house FPR and conPRmetidos, Inversión Cultural, Centro para Emprendedores, Centro de Investigación y Política Pública (ABRE PR), Salón Literario Libroamérica, Juntos por Puerto Rico, PR IT Cluster, and Seriously Creative.
